TRACES OF VEIL
My practice explores the paradox of material behavior.
Using construction materials such as plaster and cement, I seek to transform
weight into lightness and rigidity into softness. Surfaces that are typically
structural and static appear to fold, breathe, and hover , resembling fabric,
skin, or a suspended veil.
The wall is not a support but a point of emergence.
Each sculpture appears to grow from it, as if the architecture briefly becomes
fluid and releases a form that cannot fully detach from its origin. The works
exist in a state between object and surface, attachment and autonomy.
The presence of the body is indirect yet essential.
The curves are not representations of anatomy but traces of touch. The
gestures used to shape the material resemble caring, repetitive movements .
Smoothing, pressing, and tending , suggesting intimacy rather than depiction.
The sculptures hold a memory of contact, as if they were formed through
proximity rather than construction.
Balancing organic and psychological associations, the works invite a physical
response. The tension between the hardness of matter and the desire to
approach it as something fragile.
THROUGH GLASS
Through Glass is an ongoing series of layered acrylic wall sculptures inspired by a contemporary reinterpretation of the Cycladic islands. Rather than depicting the landscape, the works translate its forms, colours and atmosphere into abstract compositions of light, transparency and depth.
